TOPAZ


Many people associate topaz primarily with the blue colour. However it is allochromatic stone and its amazing colour scale competes with fancy sapphires. Topaz is named after the island of Topazos located in the Red Sea.

This gemstone can be found in Brazil, USA, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Russia. Some small sites are also in Czechia and Slovakia.

Topaz is the stone of people born in November and its blue variant is the stone of people born in December.
It is given on the 4th wedding anniversary.

COLOUR

Colour is one of the most important factors that affect its price. Some colours even have their own specific way of valuation. The rarest are red varieties, the most popular are topazes with blue shades. This gemstone is frequently treated to improve colour, transparency, optical properties or durability.

CLARITY

Majority of cut topazes have no visible inclusions. However, for rare colours, inclusions do not necessarily affect the price.

CUT

Topaz is cut in a wide variety of shapes - oval, pear, round, cushion, emerald and more. It is important that the cut enhances the beauty of the stone and lets its colour stand out.

WEIGHT

With size, the price of blue topaz does not increase rapidly. However, it is the opposite with the price of Imperial topaz.

Topaz can be cleaned with warm, soapy water. Ultrasound cleaning or cleaning with steam is not safe.
