AKOYA PEARLS

Akoya is not just classic white pearls. They have the best lustre of all cultured pearls. For many decades, Akoya pearls have been the most popular type of pearl on the market. They are grown in sea farms in Japan, China and Vietnam.

AKOYA PEARL COLOUR RANGE

Pearls are not just white. They can also be cream, pink, golden, silver, silver-blue or green. The most common shades are pink, cream and porcelain.

PEARL SIZE

Akoya usually grow to a size of 5 to 9 mm. Larger than 10 mm are very rare. However, the most common size is 7 to 7.5 mm. This size is also the most economical. The price of pearls larger than 8 mm is significantly higher. In the warmer waters off the coast of China, pearls can grow up to twice as fast as in the cooler waters of Japan.

TREATED PEARLS

Pearls are often treaded to be black in colour. Sometimes they can appear similar to black freshwater pearls. But when we compare them, the differences are visible. Akoya pearls are larger, rounder, brighter and smoother.

HIGHEST QUALITY AKOYA PEARL NECKLACES

The best quality necklaces are made of these pearls. These pearl necklaces are worn by American first ladies and the British Queen. Their necklaces are mostly made of white, cream or soft cream pearls. A white pearl necklace, like a small black one, should be a part of every lady's wardrobe.
